Chad Sanders

Funeral Director/Embalmer

Chad Sanders graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1985. Growing up in the funeral industry, he spent much of his childhood watching his father, Rusty, serve and comfort families in their greatest time of need. While still in high school, Chad began working alongside his father at Sanders Funeral Service. He later earned his Bachelor’s degree in Funeral Science from the University of Central Oklahoma and became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1991.

Under his father’s guidance, Chad not only developed his technical skills but also learned the deeper importance of gaining the trust and respect of the families they served. He became especially gifted in makeup and reconstruction work, offering families peace and comfort by restoring the appearance of their loved ones.

Deeply rooted in the Kingfisher community, Chad has served in many roles beyond the funeral home. He coached basketball at Sts. Peter and Paul and Holy Trinity Catholic Schools and was the creative mind behind the lighting designs for Kingfisher In Lights, an organization founded by his father.

Chad and his wife, Shelley, have raised their family in Kingfisher, where they are now proud grandparents of six grandchildren, In 2017, Chad purchased Sanders Funeral Service, which he continues to operate alongside Shelley.

Walking with families through loss is more than a profession for Chad—it is a calling. “I have always found helping others during their time of need very rewarding, and I treasure the special bond I shared with my father, serving our community side by side. I plan to continue his legacy for many years to come.”

Cherie "Rachael" (Hampton) Stallings

Funeral Director/Embalmer

Rachael was born in 1972 to Larry and Denese Hampton in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and was raised in Kingfisher. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School and Kingfisher High School before moving her sophomore year. After graduating from Seminole High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Funeral Service from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1997.

With more than 28 years of experience working in and managing funeral homes, Rachael brings both knowledge and compassion to the families she serves. She and her husband, Bryan Stallings, are grateful to call Kingfisher home and feel blessed to serve the community they love. Together they have three children and six grandchildren.

Richard Dunham

Funeral Director/Embalmer

Dick lives in Mustang, Oklahoma, with his wife, Kaye. He is proud of his two children—his son, a retired U.S. Army Ranger Major, and his daughter, a U.S. Army Major who also serves as a hospital administrator at Fort Hood. One of Dick and Kaye’s greatest joys is spending time with their three grandchildren.

Dick graduated from the Dallas Institute of Gupton-Jones School of Mortuary Science in 1964 and has served families in the Oklahoma City area as a Funeral Director and Embalmer for more than 60 years. Well respected throughout the funeral industry in Oklahoma, he has been a valued part of Sanders Funeral Service for over a decade.

Known for his willingness to step in wherever he is needed, Dick is dedicated to supporting families with care and attention to even the smallest details, as well as assisting his fellow directors. His reliability, experience, and sense of humor—often shared through a well-timed joke—make him an invaluable part of the team.

Shelley Sanders

Office Administrator

Shelley Sanders serves as the Operations Manager at Sanders Funeral Service.

Raised in Bethany, Oklahoma, Shelley married Chad Sanders in 2000, and together they are blessed with four children and six grandchildren. She brings more than 30 years of experience as a registered nurse and paramedic, dedicating much of her career to caring for others through her work at Kingfisher Regional Hospital, the Kingfisher Fire Department, and as Nursing Director of Practice Management at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital in Enid. After retiring from nursing administration in 2016, Shelley joined Chad full-time in helping manage the family business.

Before her nursing career, Shelley managed a large flower shop in California, combining creativity with compassion through floral design. That experience inspired the creation of Sanders Floral Design, a division of Sanders Funeral Service dedicated to serving families with custom floral arrangements and meaningful tributes during times of loss.

In addition to her role at the funeral home, Shelley works part-time with nursing students at Chisholm Trail Technology Center. At Sanders Funeral Service, she assists with first calls, funeral services, memorialization products, and floral design—adding thoughtful details that help create meaningful Celebrations of Life for every family served.

Dennis Baker

Lora (Yost) Baker

Funeral Assistant

Lora (Yost) Baker was born and raised in Omega, Oklahoma, and is a 1992 graduate of Lomega High School. She and her husband, Dennis, were married in 1994 and have made their home in Kingfisher. Together, they have two daughters, Kelsi Hanvold and husband William, Kori Perez and husband Diego, grandson Beckett, and two granddaughters, Auden and Adeline. The eldest granddaughter is a student at Kingfisher Elementary.

Lora has been employed by the State of Oklahoma for close to 20 years initially working in the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth’s office in Oklahoma City, in the Office of Juvenile System Oversight division. Currently she serves as an Oil and Gas Field Ops Specialist at the Corporation Commission’s Oil and Gas District office in Kingfisher. She enjoys spending time with family every chance she gets and always has a homemade Sunday lunch ready for family each week when they arrive at her home. She likes spending time in her garden and is very involved in Kingfisher Church of the Nazarene. She is active as a women’s ministry leader, often leading bible studies for other ladies inside and outside the church. She also serves as the church’s finance secretary.

At Sanders Funeral Service, Lora assists in several capacities, including making first calls and supporting funeral services. Lora and her husband Dennis are also preplanning specialist and assist families with prearranging their services. Lora considers it an honor to serve families whether at the funeral home during their time of need, at her church, or in the community in some other way.

Ron Bruner

Funeral Assistant

Ron attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Texas, and has served as a pastor for more than 40 years. He married his wife, Barbara, in 1978, and together they have two children, Rebecca and Stephen, and three wonderful grandchildren.

For the past 35 years, Ron has faithfully led the First Assembly of God in Kingfisher as Pastor. His deep love for ministry and serving others also led him to join Sanders Funeral Service in 2012.

At the funeral home, Ron is always ready to lend a hand, assisting in the office and with funeral services. His compassion, servant’s heart, and dedication to the community continue to bless the families he serves.

Pastor Wendell Prim Sr.

Funeral Assistant

Pastor Wendell Prim Sr. graduated from Dover High School and attended React Bible Institute in Oklahoma City. He received his call from God over 40 years ago and has since impacted thousands of lives through worship and the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Prim has served as Associate Pastor of Wannamaker Baptist Church in Dover, Oklahoma, and Senior Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Kingfisher. He has also traveled internationally, preaching and ministering in West Ghana in 2002 and Kenya in 2017. In addition, he has been featured on the local TBN network in Oklahoma City and frequently preaches at revivals and funerals in the community.

In 1998, Pastor Prim, along with a team of dedicated members, founded God’s Covenant Church in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. This growing congregation is committed to spreading the Gospel and serving the community. Through partnerships with organizations like C-Bar-C, Pastor Prim helps provide Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, as well as other outreach programs to meet the needs of local families.

Pastor Prim has also been active in civic leadership, serving as a Kingfisher city commissioner for eight years, contributing to the Douglass League Community Center, and serving as Vice President and current President of the Kingfisher Ministerial Alliance.

He and his late wife, Servrina, were married for 33 years. They are the proud parents of three children—Jacqueline, Ashlie, and Wendell Jr.—and grandparents to Tylar Marie, Ashton James, and Ace Northerton.

Pastor Prim’s love for serving his community also led him to join Sanders Funeral Service, where he assists with first calls and funeral services, offering comfort and guidance to families during their times of need.

Sharon Shipley Shepard

Sharon Shipley Shepard

Born and raised in the heart of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Sharon Shipley Shepard is a proud 1985 graduate of Kingfisher High School and an alumna of the University of Central Oklahoma. She’s been blessed to build a beautiful life with her high school sweetheart, Jamie Shepard, and together they’ve raised four wonderful children: Josh, Seth, Noah, and Kari. She also feels blessed to have “three little loves,” Blakely, Wrenley, and Kinsley—along with their parents, Colton and Leah Gilley, and her dear mother-in-love, Deronda Shepard in their family.

Sharon is the proud owner of The Pink Zebra Gifts, a beloved boutique in downtown Kingfisher known for its charm, warmth, and thoughtful treasures. She finds deep purpose in her new position as a Funeral Assistant with Sanders Funeral Service. Supporting families in their time of loss is something she considers a sacred honor, and she feels truly called to love on people during their greatest time of need. When she’s not at the shop or helping at the funeral home, you’ll likely find her working in the yard, walking along the beach collecting seashells, or most importantly, spending quality time with her family.

Rooted in God, family, and love, Sharon lives each day with intention and gratitude, striving to be a source of comfort, joy, and kindness in every role she takes on.

Sadye Cabral

Funeral Assistant

Sadye M. Cabral was born and raised in Oklahoma City and is a 2014 graduate of U.S. Grant High School. She married her husband, Ivan Cabral, in 2016, and together they chose to raise their family in Hennessey, Oklahoma. They have two daughters: Avileny, age 11, and Aleissa, age 9 and they attend Hennessey Public Schools.

Before pursuing her passion for dance, Sadye worked in Early Childhood Education and later attended the Oklahoma City Ballet Yvonne Chouteau School of Dance—experiences that ultimately inspired her to open RedLevé Dance Studio in Hennessey. In addition to running her studio, she also serves as an ELL teacher at Hennessey Public Schools.

From a young age, Sadye felt called to serve families through their grief journeys and developed an interest in mortuary science. Although her career path initially led in other directions, she has found a meaningful role at Sanders Funeral Service as a funeral assistant. Sadye is honored to walk alongside families during some of their most difficult moments.

Katherine Stamp

Funeral Assistant

Katherine Stamp graduated from Kingfisher High School in 2014. She attended Oklahoma City University on a cheer scholarship before transferring to the University of Central Oklahoma, where she graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism.

From a young age, Katie helped at Sanders Funeral Service with various clerical tasks, gaining early experience in the family business. After college, she worked for News Channel 9 in Oklahoma City before returning home to Kingfisher to serve full-time at the funeral home.

In 2020, Katie married Michael Stamp. They now reside in Oklahoma City with their son, Grayson. Katie continues to assist Sanders Funeral Service on a part-time basis, helping with memorialization products and supporting funeral services when needed.

Rusty Sanders - In Memoriam

Rusty was born in Marland, OK in1938 to Tillie And Dell Sanders Sr. He graduated from Marland High school in 1956 and entered the US Navy serving on the USS Kearsarge. He graduated from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Science Gupton~Jones in 1963 and married Fran. They made Kingfisher, OK their home in 1967 where they raised 5 children, and have been blessed with 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

They purchased Sanders Funeral Service in 1978 and have served the Kingfisher and surrounding communities ever since. “My passion has always been taking care of families the way I would want my family cared for”.

Rusty was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He coached their basketball team for many years and was the founder of Kingfisher In Lights. Together with his son Chad, they devoted many years decorating the park in Christmas Lights.

Rusty served Kingfisher and the surrounding communities with devotion, pride, and love for over 55 years before his passing in October 2021. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, sense of humor, and dedication to the families of Kingfisher.
