Richard Eugene York was born on May 16, 1926 and passed peacefully at his home on September 17, 2018. He was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Elvin Alvin York and Bonnie Mae Hart. He attended Kingfisher High School until he left for World War II on April 10, 1944. He was awarded his diploma in 2002, the same year two of his granddaughters graduated high school. This was a very exciting and happy day for Richard. He served in the Marine Corps attached to the Navy throughout the war. He discharged on May 26, 1946 and returned to Cashion where he ran a gas station and convenient store. He married and had his first two sons, Stanley Gene York and Phillip Wayne York. He then moved to Guthrie where he ran a gas station and farmed. Then he took a job as an electroplater at Tinker Air Force Base. On April 7, 1962 he married the love of his life, Alta June Yost, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. They extended their family with the birth of their daughter, Marcella Ann (York) Biehler and the following year with Mark Alan York. Richard and Alta ran York Grocery store until Richard accepted a job with the Kingfisher Post Office, where he worked for 10 years. He then became a full-time farmer and started R & M Services with his son Mark.

Richard is survived by his wife, Alta, of the home. Three sons Stanley York and Marilyn of Derby, Kansas, Phillip York of Enid, Oklahoma and Mark York and Lynn of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. One daughter Marcella Biehler and Beelie of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Matt York, April Gibson and Brandon, Jessica Ramer and Fred, Beelie Biehler III, Christy Schellenberg and Isaak, and Dusty Biehler and Jan. Great-grandchildren Meghan and Ryann Shue, Zach and Kase Gibson, Cameron, Whitney and Natalie Ramer, Emily, Scott and Ethan Schellenberg and Axel Biehler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Claritta Anglin and Olaf, grandson-in-law Robert Shue and great-grandchild Preston Ramer.

Services will be Friday September 21, 2018 at 10:00AM at Kingfisher Cemetery, officiated by Debbie Biehler under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
