Randy Duffy, 75, of Loyal passed away peacefully on July 16, 2023, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Kingfisher on April 18, 1948, to Ronald and Irene (Ladwig) Duffy. His first home
was on the Cimarron River north of Loyal at the outlaw hideout of the Yeager and Black Gang.

Randy graduated from Loyal High School in 1966 and entered the United States Army in 1968.
He served in the Vietnam War, Tay Ninh Province, from 1969 to 1970, where he attained the
rank of sergeant as a squad leader with Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry (Airmobile)
performing combat infantry in the jungle. He received a National Defense Medal, Vietnam
Service Medal, Air Medal for Combat Assaults, and Bronze Star with a 'V' Device for valor
above and beyond the call of duty, as well as a free ticket back to the United States on a
Freedom Bird--a 727 United airplane. Looking back, he said how ironic that he was peeling
potatoes on all-night KP duty on his 20th birthday, and he received a Bronze Star on his 21st.

Randy was a member of the Loyal Methodist Church, where he attended Sunday School and
was baptized.

He was an Honorary FFA Chapter Farmer and a Kingfisher County Sportsmen's
Club and Cattlemen's Association member. Randy began his career as a lineman at Cimarron
Electric Cooperative. After forty-three years of service, he retired as the
construction/maintenance superintendent. Randy was also a longtime donor to St. Jude
Children's Cancer Research.

Randy loved the out-of-doors, especially quail and pheasant hunting over his pride and joy
Brittany Spaniels, coyote hunting, and all types of fishing. He also loved raising cattle and
farming with his Dad and sons. He always had a large garden which he shared most with his
friends. Randy definitely loved OU football, of which he was the only supporter in the family.
Little known fact, Randy had a large collection of Western artwork and several pieces of Hull
pottery.

Above and beyond all else, Randy most enjoyed the grandkids growing up and the grown-ups
growing up. He was preceded to heaven by his parents and his wonderful wife, Linda, of
twenty-one years. He is survived by his children, Chris Duffy and wife Danita of Kingfisher, Dusty
Duffy and wife Alecia of Loyal, and Pam Schlegel of Loyal; granddaughters, Hailey Duffy and
Emma Duffy; grandsons, Owen Duffy, Ryan Schlegel, and Joey Schlegel and wife Pamela
Christine; and great-grandsons, Dexter, Riley, Jiraiya, and Salem Schlegel. He is also survived
by his younger brother, Greg Duffy and wife Jerrie of Piedmont; baby sister, Ronna Yost and
husband Dan of Terlton; and nieces and a nephew. Randy said to be sure to note that Ronna
and Dan live on Lake Keystone, Greg and Jerrie have a home at Lake Texoma, and he resided
by the Red Shale Pond.

His final request was to express a very special sincere thank you to his niece Lori Phillips for her
kindness and patriotism extended to him and all veterans every year. He wanted Lori to know
that when taps were played, he and all veterans would be listening with her.

A service to honor Randy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21, at the Loyal Methodist
Church officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile. Interment will follow at the Venable Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to Venable Cemetery or St. Jude Children's Cancer Research
Services are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Services.
