Norman D. Hanson was born in Illinois, on September 29, 1943, to Ragnar and Mary Hanson. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

Norman grew up in a small town in Illinois with his three sisters, Mary, Nancy, and Julie. From an early age, he was someone who embraced life with determination, curiosity, and a willingness to take on whatever challenge came his way. Following in his father's footsteps, Norman was involved in the Boy Scouts and proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also a fearless football player during his high school years.

Upon graduation, Norman enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for eight years. His military service helped shape the skills, independence, and sense of responsibility that would remain with him throughout his life.

After his military service, Norman settled in Arizona and began a long career with Omni Spectra. Over the course of many years, he served in different roles and became a skilled and resourceful worker. It was also during this time that he met Beverly Jean Determan, who would become his wife and lifelong companion.

After retiring from Omni Spectra, Norman and Beverly spent years traveling throughout the United States in their motor home. Their travels gave them the opportunity to see new places, dive into adventures, and make memories together. Norman's adventurous spirit carried him through many chapters of his life.

Eventually, Norman and Beverly returned to work and settled in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Norman joined Probata Corporation in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he put his technical experience and military training to use once again. During his years with Probata, he traveled throughout the western half of the United States calibrating electronic equipment for a variety of companies and government agencies.

Those who knew Norman will remember a man who believed that if something needed to be done, he could find a way to do it himself. He was practical, capable, and never afraid to tackle a difficult task. He never wanted to hire someone to do a job when he could figure out how to do it on his own. That determination was very much a part of who he was.

But beneath Norman's strength and independence was a deeply gentle and tender heart. He was especially caring and devoted to Beverly. His love was often expressed not through grand words, but through helping, protecting, fixing, providing, and simply being there for the people he loved.

Norman leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry his love with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ragnar and Mary Hanson and step-daughter, Jana Firestone.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Jean Hanson, his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Laura Hanson, his step-son and daughter-in-law, Orin and Gail Johnston, his sisters, Mary Pierce, Nancy Hallock, and Julie Swinehart, as well as grandchildren, extended family members, and close friends.

Norman's life was marked by service, adventure, hard work, and independence. He leaves behind memories of great stories he told, his sense of determination, and the quiet acts of kindness that made him who he was. Family was always an important part of Norman's life, and he took great pride in the people he loved. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026 at Cimarron Nursing Center Chapel at 905 Beall Rd, Kingfisher, OK.
