Lawrence (Larry) Gene Haws was born September 2, 1948, in Watonga, OK, to Kenneth
Raymond and Dona June Haws. He was baptized in the Methodist Church and attended the
Methodist Church in Guthrie. He attended Guthrie Public Schools.
After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Seabees from 1967 to 1994,
earning the rank of chief petty officer. After leaving the Navy, he drove trucks based out of
Norman, OK. In 2010, he retired to take care of his father, Kenneth Raymond Haws, in Goldsby.
Larry was building a cabin and farming near Woodward, OK, at the time of his death. He loved
dogs, usually taking care of 4 to 6 of them. He loved to drive around the countryside, usually
taking backroads in his pickup filled with dogs.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Mary Haws, and his parents, Kenneth
Haws, Dona Mankin, and step-mother, Norma Haws. He is survived by an uncle, Jerry (Billie) in
Wilmore, KY, an aunt, Carol Schick in Edmond, OK, a brother, Jonathan (Denise) Haws in
Vancouver, WA, a sister, Jackquelyn (Gene) Veith in Blackwell, OK, as well as many cousins,
nieces, and nephews.
There will be a private graveside service for him at Kingfisher Cemetery on August 17, 2021 at 1 p.m.
