LaWanna Christian, age 84, was born in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, on July 21st, 1940. She passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at home on the farm she helped build with her husband, George, in Kingfisher County. After several months in hospice care, she left this world in the place she loved most.

LaWanna was happiest when she was with George, and she never quite returned to her usual self after his passing. Her family believes George welcomed her on the other side with open arms, and she is happy once again.

She was raised on a farm near Omega, Oklahoma, by George and Emlen "Pene" Eberhardt alongside her two sisters, Betty and LouAnn.. Lawanna and her two sisters were inseparable. When the three got together, their laughter would fill a house and spill out into the backyard. LaWanna was a proud graduate of Omega High School, where she was Carnival Queen and a member of the 1955 State Basketball Championship team.

LaWanna once said she'd "never marry a dairyman," so George must have had something special. They had two children, Mike and Gina, and raised them with love, patience, compassion, and no shortage of grit. LaWanna threw herself into her work. She milked cows, drove tractors, delivered calves, kept a home, cooked for the family, and wrangled two active kids, even with all that, she still found time for fun. She loved cooking, baking, cake decorating, gardening, square dancing, her animals and riding horses. She won many barrel racing trophies with her favorite horse, Bucky. LaWanna was well-known for her kind heart and gift of listening. Wherever she went, she always ran into someone who needed to talk, and no matter what she was doing, she'd make time to listen, offer advice, and provide kind words of encouragement.

LaWanna was preceded in death by her husband, George; her father, George Wlliliam Eberhardt; and her mother, Emlen Jennie Mendell.

She is survived by her son, Mike Christian (Janice); her daughter, Gina Pratt (Harvey); her grandchildren, Geordan Christian and Autumn Christian (Robert); and her beloved great-granddaughter, Samantha. LaWanna is also survived by her sisters, Lou Ann Rother (Ron) of Kingfisher and Betty Scheffler (John) of Stillwater.  She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Even as Alzheimer's disease took hold in her later years, she never forgot who they were.
