Joe Leonard Hyatt, 84, of Kingfisher, passed away on January 1, 2019. Joe was born on December 18, 1934 in Waldron, Arkansas to Joe and Flora (Hubbard) Hyatt. While his dad went in the service, his mom and 2 sisters, Mary and Ellen, moved to Kingfisher, Oklahoma to be close to family.
Joe graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1953. After graduation, he worked at Hockaday Hardware. He married the love of his life, Mary Ann Senn on July 4, 1958 on the Senn family farm.
He began his career at Pioneer Telephone where he worked as a communications specialist. He worked with carphones and company radios, which evolved into bringing cellular telephones to Pioneer customers. He retired after working at Pioneer for 33 years.
His hobbies included fishing, camping, HAM radio, and working in his yard. In retirement, he enjoyed spending summers in Colorado and winters in South Texas with Mary Ann.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann; son Jeff Hyatt and wife Kristi of Kingfisher; daughter Gina Vaught and husband Mike of Bartlesville; grandson Evan Vaught and wife, Hannah of Kansas City, Missouri; grandson Bryce Hyatt and wife Matty of Edmond; granddaughter Baylee Durrill and husband Evan of Oklahoma City; great-granddaughter Adalie Vaught of Kansas City, Missouri; and sister Mary Zenner of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, as well as many friends and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Flora Hyatt; sister Ellen Stinnett; and his father and mother-in-law, Norvin and Lucille Senn. The service will be at 2 o'clock at First Baptist Church in Kingfisher on Friday January 4, 2019 with interment at the Kingfisher Cemetery in Kingfisher, Oklahoma.
