Obituary

Howard McFarlin, 93, of Kingfisher, passed from this life on October 21, 2020 at Kingfisher Mercy Hospital.

Howard was born to Emery and Alice (Soric) McFarlin on May 30, 1927, in Agra, Oklahoma. His family later moved to Yale, OK, where he attended school until he was drafted and served for the United States Army during WWII. He was assigned with the military police and was stationed in Austria. After the war, he returned home and began working as a carpenter. He met the love of his life, Francis Louise Bohannon, and they were married January 1, 1948, in Cushing, OK, and established a home there. To this union, they had 2 daughters, Linda and Cindy.

Howard and Louise opened and operated a full-service gas station in Cushing for many years until he took a job with Apache Corporation. In 1963, he was transferred within Apache and moved his family to Blackwell, OK, and again in 1973, and relocated to Kingfisher. He retired from Apache Corporation in 1987 and moved to Checotah, OK, to live on Lake Eufaula.

Howard was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also spent many summers camping with his family. Family was truly the most important part of his life and he loved spending his time with them.

Howard was preceded in death by both his parents, grandparents, brother Roy McFarlin; brothers-in law Junior Nichols and Ronald Adkins and sister-in-law Laverla Nichols, son-in-law Gerry Brueggen, and 2 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Louise of Kingfisher; daughter, Linda Magers and husband Nate of San Angelo, TX ; daughter Cindy Brueggen of Kingfisher; one brother J.D. McFarlin and wife Nancy of Cushing, OK ; sister-in-law Glenda McFarlin of Stillwater, OK; brother-in-law Bobby Bohannon of Cushing, OK and sister-in-law Ruann Clinesmith and husband Leonard of Stillwater,OK ; four grandchildren Brian Magers and wife Patty, Brad Magers and wife Gail, all of San Angelo, TX, Greg Brueggen and wife Kara of Okarche, OK, and Amy Wanzer and husband Justin of Kingfisher; six great-grandchildren Brianna Simpson and husband Justin of San Angelo, TX, Austin Magers of El Reno, OK, Skylar Magers and Tylar Magers both of San Angelo, TX, Addyson Brueggen and Beau Brueggen of Okarche, OK; and 2 great great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Sanders Funeral Home Chapel in Kingfisher at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020. Burial will be at Kingfisher Cemetery.
