Grover Dode Grape passed into HIS glory after a short illness on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the age of 91 years. Grover was born on December 5, 1927 to Sarah Hipple and Charlie Grape in Butler, Missouri. Grover went to school till the 8th grade but had to leave to help his father work on the farm. Grover enlisted in the Army on April 22, 1946 and served in WWII. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal for serving in Japan. He was an active long-term member of the Crescent VFW Post #7740. Once returning Grover met Myrtle Frymire at a dance in Dover and they married on November 22, 1950. They attended Baptist churches and Grover served as a Deacon in several of them. He took his duties as a Deacon very seriously and had a great love for his Lord. They were married 68 years at the time of his passing. Grover will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by hi wife, Myrtle and his children, Eva Jo Sparks (Jack Baugess), Skipper Grape (Kim), Randy Grape, and Bonnie Thomas (Cullen). Grover has 8 grandchildren, Derek Grape (January), Marianne Russell (Arlan), Melanie Elliott (Utah), Jason Pence, Justin Pence (Kelsey), Clarissa Grape, Craig Engles (Sandra) and Kaci Crossfield (Joe) and 12 great grandchildren. Grover is survived by his twin brothers, Harlan Grape (Goldie) and Harry Grape (Lynn) and sister Georgia McVey (Eugene). Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends will forever remember him.
A Funeral Service in memory of Grover will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Central Baptist Church, with Pastor Dan Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow at Banner Cemetery. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the VFW Post #7740. Address is 17425 Lovell Main Street, Crescent, OK 73028.
