Obituary

George W. Newer passed away peacefully at home and entered into the arms of his Savior on October 6, 2026. George was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 2, 1932, to George J. Newer and Edna C. (Miller) Newer. George graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1951. He met the love of his life, Mabel M. Peters, at a basketball game in Okarche in 1954. They later wed on August 19, 1956, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okarche, Oklahoma. Their 70 years of marriage blessed them with three children, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. George and Mabel started their life together living on the family farm, raising cattle and growing wheat and canola until George's retirement in 2025 at the age of 92. The farm attained the milestone of centennial farm of which he was very proud. George loved to hunt and fish and go on vacations. He enjoyed cruises the most. He showed pigs in school as an FFA member and enjoyed many hours at stock shows watching his kids and grandkids do the same.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Margaret Newer and his brother, Robert (Bob) Newer. He is survived by his wife, Mabel, of the home; sons George W. Newer II of Loyal and Glen Newer (Kathy) of Kingfisher; grandchildren Brandon Newer, Brittney Puckett (Kyle), all of Oklahoma City, Bryce Newer (Madison), Travis Newer, Jill Farrell (Jacob), and great-granddaughter Oaklynn Farrell, all of Kingfisher.
