Obituary

David H. Terrell passed away at the age of 72 on March 10, 2021.

Born to James and Gaynell Terrell, David was the youngest of 9 children. As the baby of the family David received lots of attention from his older siblings. The Terrell family raised their children on a farm in Dover, Oklahoma and at an early age David knew that farming was the life for him.

The story goes that David met his wife Vera at church in Watonga, Oklahoma. The way he told the story, she was coming around the side of the church and when he saw her, he knew that she was going to be his wife! At 19 and 20 years of age they were married and remained married until her death in 2006. It was in Dover that David continued to farm and together they raised three children.

To pay the bills, David was a welder. He considered himself a pretty good welder and if you took a drive with him around the countryside, he would take pride in pointing out the structures that he built from barns to corrals and everything in between.

David loved being different and wanted people to know it! He always rooted for the underdog in sports, he loved bright colors and crazy welding hats to show off his personality. He had a loud boisterous laugh and you always knew when he was in the room. Later in his life he met and married Barbara Wilson.

He was preceded in his death by his parents, his wife Vera, his son Daniel, his siblings Orlando, Donald, Delbert, Beatrice and Naomi.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughters Dee (John) and Dawn; his sisters Zelma, Shirley (Martin) and Eloise (Tim), eleven grandchildren, one soon to be born great-granddaughter, as well as nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
