Catherine Mary Beck ("Mom") was born in a farm house owned by her parents, Robert Priess and Anna Meier Priess on September 16, 1920, near Pleasant Valley, in Logan County, Oklahoma, on 160 acres acquired in the land run of 1889.
Mom attended a one room school until she went to high school in Coyle, Oklahoma where she graduated as the salutatorian of her class.
After graduation from high school Mom worked at Woolworth's in Guthrie, OK. One weekend, her sister-in-law Twila Priess, the wife of Mom's Brother Robert Priess, convinced Mom to travel with her to Fort Hood, TX to see Robert.
Mom went on the trip and her brother introduced her to Jesse W. Beck ("Dad") from Dover. OK. Romance bloomed and Mom and Dad were married on June 4, 1942, in New Orleans. Dad was subsequently shipped off by the Army to the Panama Canal Zone guarding the Canal.
Mom and Dad moved to Guthrie, OK where their first child Robert M. Beck was born at the Catholic Hospital on June 12, 1943.
In 1945, Mom and Dad moved to Cactus, TX (70 miles north of Amarillo, TX) where Dad was employed at a natural gas processing plant. During that time, their second son, Jesse W. Beck, Jr. was born at the Catholic Hospital in Dalhart, TX.
In 1947, Mom and Dad moved to Comanche, OK where Dad was employed at Rock Island Refinery (later owned by Sun Oil and Sunoco) for 35 years, including his management years.
In 1977, Mom and Dad moved to Enid, OK to be close to Jesse, Jr. and Cecelia and their grandchildren. Mom and Dad were very active in the First United Methodist Churches in Comanche, OK and in Enid, Oklahoma and Mom taught some children's Sunday school classes and also worked in the nursery. Also, Mom and Dad served as volunteers for years at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid.
When Dad died in November of 2002, Mom sold their home in Enid in 2003 and moved to Kingfisher, OK to be near her baby sister, Mary Ruhl. At that time, Mom was a cradle Catholic but decided to reaffirmed her Catholic faith in the parish of St. Peter and St. Paul in Kingfisher, OK . Mom volunteered at St Peter and St Paul and at the hospital in Kingfisher.

Mom is also survived by nieces and nephews and their children. She loved each one of them as if they were her own. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Joanne Beck, wife of Maurice, Jr.
One interesting tidbit is that Mom is called "Ga'' by most of the family and Dad is called "Gan" by most the family. These names were given by one of her grandchildren (Jay Beck) when he first started talking.
Mom has been blessed and has blessed many in her lifetime. We know that she is with Dad in Heaven and they are forever young and healthy.
