Arlene D. Mercer passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Friday, October 30, 2020, at Countrywood Assisted Living & Memory Care in Kingfisher, OK. She was born on January 10, 1929 to Jim & Mildred Coursey Day in Camargo, OK. She married Lyndon W. Mercer on February 14, 1948 in Canadian, TX. She moved to Kingfisher County in 1953 and has lived in Kingfisher most of her life.
Arlene was a Clerk for the ASCS Office in Kingfisher for 17 years and retired in 1981. She then helped found the family business, Mercer Brothers, Inc., and worked there from 1981-1994. She was a longtime member of the Kingfisher United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and hummingbirds, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her twin siblings: Ray Day (Bonnie) of Camargo, OK, and Kay Salisbury (Russ) of Cheyenne, OK, sister-in-law Wilma Day of Vici, OK, brother-in-law Ron Mercer (Yvonne) of Bethany, OK as well one son, Joseph Mercer (Janie), of Kingfisher and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, including: John Mercer of Kingfisher, Matt (Erica) of Kingfisher, Ginni Scott (Ken) of Frisco, Texas; Jay Mercer (Robyn) of Kingfisher; Heather Mercer Bollenbach of Edmond, Chelsea Lewis (Craig) of Edmond; 14 great grandchildren, including: Tanner Mercer (Autumn), Kaleb, Erika Mercer, Breahnna & Danica Hux, Coby Mercer, and Hartley Mercer all of Kingfisher as well as Wiliam Mercer of Edmond, Elizabeth Scott of Frisco, TX and Hannah, Hayden, Madison and Kinley Bollenbach and Cameron Lewis III all of Edmond. Lastly, 2 great-great grandchildren Bowen & Weston Mercer of Kingfisher. She is preceded in death by her husband Lyndon W. Mercer, two children Betty Lynn (Mercer) Collins and Jeffrey Don Mercer, and son-in-law Donnie Flynn Collins.
Services will be held Wednesday, November 4 at 1:30pm at the chapel at Sanders Funeral Chapel, 124 E. Broadway, Kingfishr, OK 73750. Burial will follow at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Services.
